I have not been writing for a while. Life has been so still, same goes to the construction industry. Projects have been scarce, still desparately looking for a change in momentum.
A friend of mine announced his wedding in December. It came as a major talk of the week among close friends. Life is That boring.
Now back to this good friend of mine. He is such a character that nobody believe he will get married so "fast". He is the type that is always available when you need help, I mean "always" in its true sense. He is always a phone call away almost 24 hours a day. I can say that because I once called him at 4:00 am and asked him to come over to my house in suspicious of a break in. He come over without question. I called police and nobody picked up the phone.
He is such a resourceful guy, you can call him and ask him for advice on anything under the sun. You can call him to ask for contractor to renovate your house, look for "reliable" car salesman, get a good deal in car accessories, buy nice durians, remove blue screen on MS wondows, how to connect WIFI Accesspoint to the network, fix your ceiling fan himself, give you a lift to airport, source for a cheap handphone, even to find out which spa has the most beautiful girls, and so on.
We have seen him go out with a few girls and none of them last long. He spends so much time helping all the friends and hardly any free time for his girl friends. If he can't find a wife, we are partly to be blamed. Finally he found one and decided to tie the knot. Now everyone in the group ask, "Why so fast? Pregnant ah?". One single friend of ours even complains that he won't be able to go Karaoke because his kaki is getting married. I shared many of their thought and feeling but little do we realise that we are a group of selfish friends.
He has been such a helpful friend for years and we are so used to it. His marriage comes as a surprise to many, not because of the short notice, but a sudden vacuum it creates. It spells a potential situation where he has to be committed to his family and does not have time for all the friends.
But I am taking this apportunity to congratulate him, because like everyone in life, we need to grow up and progress to the next stage of life. He found one whom he is willing to share the rest of his life with , and that is no easy achievement. He will always shine on us as he is our Moon!
